The USCIS, through its office of Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS), has begun visiting employers of SOME H-1B visa holders in efforts to deter and combat fraud and improve national security.

The visits are unannounced and occur at the H-1B employee's work location and/or the employer's principle place of business. An FDNS officer will visit the H-1B employee even if he/she is working at a location that is not controlled by the employer. While employers may request the presence of an attorney in person or telephonically, the FDNS officers will not reschede the visit since they seek the element of surprise for candid answers.
